MISSION STATEMENT
The Bluegrass Songwriters’ Association (BSA) recognizes original Bluegrass compositions as the bedrock of Bluegrass Music. The BSA is dedicated to the support, promotion, and development of excellence in original music in Bluegrass, the support and development of the bluegrass songwriter, and support of the interface between the songwriter, artist, and other facets of the Bluegrass industry. In turn, this purpose promotes excellence in Bluegrass music and increased recognition of Bluegrass music as a vital, central force in American music.
GOALS
1.
To create settings for exposure of the bluegrass songwriter and original songs in order to increase recognition and exposure of songwriters and the role of original music in Bluegrass.
2.
To enhance the interface between songwriters and performers through (1) and other networking opportunities including workshops, special events, and web-based strategies (e.g. newsletter, tip sheets, etc.) to increase avenues for exposure of songs.
3.
To provide educational and mentoring opportunities for artistic and professional development among bluegrass songwriters and aspiring songwriters to enhance professional development and promote excellence in Bluegrass songwriting.
The Bluegrass Songwriters Association is a growing organization dedicated to the promotion of professionalism in the field of bluegrass songwriting. We actively encourage participation by our community, from the most renowned writers to those just starting out.
